**UPDATED**

Eddie11c has posted a further update to the Leo4All package.

This patch will bring Leo4Allv1 to Leo4Allv2.
You must have a patched ISO already with the MD5: 293f82f9624eadd49baee70e19d68adc
New Leo4All.ISO MD5 checksum after applying the patch should be: 6d4e68afb3486baec03b446fb0a5d711

Changes/Fixes: Improved ATI and GMA950 graphics support with updated kexts. There are some new options here so take a look. For ATI I’ve added new installers for 2600PRO/2600XT/3850/3870/3870X2. Now GMA950 has an option that will install Vanilla 10.5.2 kexts and Natit.

Updated the RemoveVideo script, now it will ask you what type of video card so it only removes the corresponding kexts.
Simply boot into single user mode with the bootflag -s at the Darwin prompt.
Type:

/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
./RemoveVideo

Follow the prompt to choose type of card. Now type exit to continue booting.

  • Corrected an issue with some PS2 keyboards on laptops not working (I hope).
  • Added the latest Time Machine and Security Updates into the installer.
  • Added Quicktime 7.4.1 update.
  • Added option to choose Vanilla 9.2.2 kernel.
  • Updated AppleSMBIOS to latest version by Netkas.
  • Removed APIC option (now the installer uses this older ACPIPlatform and AppleAPIC by default).
  • Added new Applications: Unison, Pacifist, KextHelper.
  • Added support for some Marvell PATA chipsets, for those ICH9 users that requested it. Choose the ICHx fixed IOATAFamily.kext
  • System Profiler should be working as intended now for everyone.
  • By request I changed out the AppleIntegratedFramebuffer.kext
  • Modified the default ACL package, this may speed the install a little for some. It is now down to under 15 minutes total for me!

The plan is to post a new ISO up tomorrow some time for those that don’t already have it downloaded.

**Update** eddie11c has just released an updated fully patched Leo4Allv2.ISO (Leo4Allv2 Universal 10.5.2 AMD/INTEL[SSE2/SSE3])

Leo4Allv2-PPF can be obtained through the usual channels.

Zephyroth is calling all AMD OSx86 Users to test his new AMD Software Update Beta.

This Application is able to download Software Updates & modify them by searching and applying cpuids and decrypting encrypted files.

AMD Hackintosh users are now able to install new software updates with a single click instead of having to work step by step with the terminal.

However, this is still unreleased & a beta version. Many improvements need to be done before it can be integrated into Zephyroth’s Future Release.

Discussions: AMD Software Update Public Test

We waited 4 years for this shit? Well, it wouldn’t be the first time. If you remember back in 1994 when Office 4.2.1 was released, it took Microsoft another 3 1/2 years to roll out a decent version of Office ‘98 for the Macintosh users. Here we are in the first month of the year and after running Office 2008 Beta for God knows how long, I made the switch.

Don’t worry. Microsoft put all the goodies in there just for you. Everything you love on Windows, including a copy of what I consider to be the most useless application on any Microsoft Windows installation, Messenger. Office 2008 for Mac was originally slated for release in the second half of 2007, however it was delayed until the first part of 2008 citing the need to “fix lingering bugs” if that gives you any sort of hint.

Microsoft Office 2008 (Mac)

Not many people know this, but Microsoft Office first appeared on Mac OS before it graced the noisy hard drive of its Windows supporter. The first version of Office was released in 1989 with Microsoft rolling out a version of their own for Windows a year later.

The installation process of Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac is very quick and painless. I want to say it moves along a lot faster on my Mac OS X Leopard (Intel 2.9GHz) than it does on similar hardware running Windows Vista. It takes a long time for each application to run for the first time. It may just be me but the Office applications seem to load considerably faster after you’ve run them once or twice. I was able to load Microsoft Word and PowerPoint simultaneously in under 10 seconds.

If you’re stuck on an older PowerPC Mac, you’ll want to stay away from Office 2008. Even though it’s a universal binary, Office 2004 runs a lot smoother on older Macs just like Office 2004 runs horribly slow with Rosetta on newer Intel-based Macs. Since Leopard has bumped up the requirements and left a lot of older Macs in the dust, I think 2008 will be further known as the year of the upgrade.

There are still a lot of little issues Microsoft needs to address (like letting us use our own native address book and calender) but for the most part, the average Office user who needs to write or edit a few quick pages for their Windows PC buddies will find themselves right at home overlooking random screwball errors and hiccups that has become Office 2008 Final. However if you’re a “power user” who’s always kung-fu’ing Office documents and have become a slave to the copier, I suggest moving back to iWork ‘08 until Microsoft releases some more “lingering” fixes.

t happened in a matter of hours from its official release from Apple, Mac OS X 10.5.3, the latest major release of Leopard has been hacked to run on your average PC using a special kernel to bypass special restrictions. Major build releasers such as JaS and Kalyway have already put out Combo Updates which will convert your Hackintosh to the latest version of Mac OS X Leopard which introduces a bunch of new features including upgraded drivers, over 200 bug fixes, and a new 9.3.0 kernel.

Files are currently being downloaded from various popular torrent sites including bay of plundering and green little demon. You know what I mean! I’ll post my success (or failire) of upgrading my current 10.5.2 Kalyway Hackintosh to the latest 10.5.3 using the now widely available 10.5.3 Kalyway Combo Update that hit the green this afternoon…

UPDATE!

It all works, smooth as glass. Just follow Kalyway’s instructions and be sure that you don’t have any old kernel boot entries in your /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist. My kernel went from “tohkernel” (Old 9.2.0, from my 10.5.2 Combo Update), to “mach_kernel” (9.3.0, included in 10.5.3 Combo Update) and I set to timeout to 5 seconds because I hate waiting. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then the below screenshot is money in the bank. At least for me.

The MacFUSE project has been updated to version 1.5 and brings with it more support for Leopard as well as many bug fixes.

MacFUSE is an Open Source FUSE-Compliant File System Implementation Mechanism for Mac OS X. MacFUSE implements a mechanism that makes it possible to implement a fully functional file system in a user-space program on Mac OS X (10.4 and above). It aims to be API-compliant with the FUSE (Filesystem in USErspace) mechanism that originated on Linux. Therefore, many existing FUSE file systems become readily usable on Mac OS X. The core of MacFUSE is in a dynamically loadable kernel extension.

Although MacFUSE has a completely different kernel-level implementation from Linux FUSE, it supports the FUSE specification well enough that many popular FUSE file systems can be easily compiled and work on Mac OS X–often out of the box. Examples of file systems that work and have been tested (to varying degrees) include sshfs, ntfs-3g (read/write NTFS), ftpfs (read/write FTP), wdfs (WebDAV), cryptofs, encfs, bindfs, unionfs, beaglefs (yes, including the entire Beagle paraphernalia), and so on.

Changes and Feature Additions in MacFUSE 1.5 Core Binary Releases

• Bugfix: Fixed bug where the Finder would sometimes report zero KB free in a newly mounted MacFUSE volume.
• Bugfix: Fixed a signal-related bug that prevented a process from calling fuse_main() more than once (for example, if the process wanted to remount a volume after it had been unmounted.)

• Bugfix: Fixed an exit(3) call that should have been _exit(3). Could cause tear-down issues for certain file systems.

• Feature: If a user file system becomes dead or unreachable (for example, if the daemon crashed), MacFUSE will report -1 as the file system subtype (the f_fssubtype field of struct statfs64 and the f_reserved1 field of struct statfs.) The MacFUSE file system property list files now identify subtype -1 as the “dead” file system.

• Feature: 10.5: Experimental support for select(2) on the user-kernel device. Must be explicitly enabled at kernel extension compile time through M_MACFUSE_ENABLE_DSELECT.

• Feature: 10.5: Added support for file flags (see chflags(2)). Currently, a user file system can only provide these flags for reading. Support for setting these flags is there, but not enabled because doing so will extend (”break”) the existing FUSE API and is a more disruptive change–it will require all existing file systems to be recompiled. This change will be clubbed together with other disruptive changes at some point in the near future.

• Update: 10.5: User-space library now based on FUSE library version 2.7.3.

• Packaging: 10.5: MacFUSE for Tiger (the ready-to-install package) can now also be compiled on Leopard.

For more information head on over to the MacFUSE Project.

Microsoft’s Macintosh Business Unit (Mac BU) has finally released MSN Messenger 7 for Mac OS X. Strangely though, this new version does not offer that much to regular users over previous versions, aside from a little more spit and finish and Leopard compatibility.

For corporate users, MSN Messenger for Mac 7 offers A/V support for the first time making it ideal for business meetings and conferences. Messenger also takes advantage of Mac OS X’s Bonjour technology. However, regular/home users will need to wait a little longer to enjoy these features, though the Mac BU has said that they are working hard on bringing an update in the next few months.

ABMMZephyroth has been hard at work not only in developing the Software Update Utility for AMD/Intel machines, but also a beta of an “About This Mac Modifier”, which allows users from both platforms to edit their “About this Mac” info screen using a graphical user interface (GUI).

Users are advised that this utility is still in early development (beta testing) and is subject to future updates.

What is it?

This software allows you to modify the “About This Mac” screen easily. You can use any image you want to replace the default Apple logo as well as change the CPU and RAM information.

New version of ATMM (0.3)
About-This-Mac-Modifier-0.3.zip

- Detect if the dropped file is an image or not.
- Automatically resize image to fit correctly in the About This Mac screen.
- Ask for logout if you dropped an image for the change to take effect.
- Some minor interface changes to be closer to the About This Mac screen.

Enjoy!

It works fine with OSx86, no matter if you use an Intel or AMD CPU.

To install Parallels Desktop on an AMD OSx86 Machine, however, one little string in a file has to be changed before the installation is possible.

Right Click the Installer PKG and choose “Show Package Contents” & open the Info.plist file and replace the string as the following picture describes.

That’s it!

Requirements

Intel Mac running Mac OS X 10.4.4 or later

Here is my solution for OSx86 users who would like to Dual or Triple boot Mac OS X, Windows, & Linux on the same Machine.

Important

It is highly recommended to backup all existing data before proceeding below!

1). Download and Burn a bootable copy of Acronis Disk Director

2). Assuming that your hard drive is fully formated with zeros, insert your Mac OS X Disk and press ENTER when the disk starts up.

3). Select your language and in the next screen, go into Disk Utility.

4). Create one HFS+ Journaled partition dedicated to Mac OS X.

5). For the remaining space, set that as Free Spacen–> Before you commit the changes, in options, choose the MBR Partitioning Scheme.

6). Quit Disk Utility, and quit the installer.

7). Now, insert your Acronis Disk, and go into disk’s safe mode when the menu appears.

8). You will see the already created Mac OS X partition, but the remaining Free Space is unallocated.

9). Create one NTFS partition using that Free Space, This NTFS partition is only for Vista/XP. Create other necessary partitions after setup is successfully completed. (NOTE: If you are planning to use Linux, you will have to leave some Free Space, Do NOT create an Ext3 partition YET)

10). Now is the time to reinsert your Mac OS X DVD.

11). Select the appropriate packages and install on the OS X partition you created.

12). After installation, heres a tip, you can quit the registration by simply doing Command-Q.

13). After configuring your post-installation, it is optional if you want to install the latest kernel, 9.2.2.

14). The main thing now, is to go into disk utility again, and format the NTFS partition you created for Windows Vista as FAT (MS-DOS).

15). Now it is time to insert your Windows Vista DVD.

16). When you get into the partition selection, highlight the partition you created in Disk Utility (FAT). Format that partition as NTFS.

17). Now you should be able to install Windows Vista without any problems. Note that this will overwrite the existing MBR that Mac OS X configured initially.

An Update for all Leo4All Users

When Eddie11c came up with the idea of a Universal Mac OS X Leopard release we (the administrators of the New Leo4All Forum) were astonished to hear that this was being developed. After taking the time to try the first few of his releases we were also amazed about the significant improvements that were being made after each release. Initially, when Eddie11c created his first release, WinLinMac01 became eager to test it out and was later motivated to create a Wiki as part of a new community known as the, OSx86-Leo4All Community, dedicated to Eddie11c. The Wiki followed great success detailing the issues that were revolving around the current release and solutions that were available for them. However, later this month, the Wiki experienced an overload of visitors which resulted in periodic lagging on the site. With the huge volume of visitors, posting on the forum integrated on the Wiki site, the numbers were simply unbearable. The Wiki needed continuous maintenance and other issues had to be resolved. The forum itself was disorganized. With this in hand, we have decided to utilize the Wiki as a Knowledge base Center from now on instead.

We have taken the opportunity to open a dedicated-Leo4All forum that will enable users to share their views about Leo4All, the issues they are facing, and much more, openly with us. We hope you enjoy the new look and freedom you are getting with this new site. Welcome to the New Leo4All Forum Website!

Thank you choosing Leo4All created by Eddie11c.

Kalyway has released a Hackintosh 10.5.3 Combo Update a few minutes ago, only one day after Apple officially released the highly anticipated 10.5.3 Update.

This update is for Intel SSE3 CPUs only. The File Size is 544.09 MB.

Instructions

1- Install the Combo Update, do not restart.

2 - Install Kalyways Kernel pkg. Make sure that you choose the proper kernel for your system. If you would like to keep your old 9.2 kernel, please install the package without selecting the 9.3 Kernel.

3 - Reboot, Type update -v and cross your fingers.

If you are stuck at bsd root after reboot, type update -v at the F8 darwin prompt. It should work.

Caution

Try this Update at your own Risk!

You may experience boot problems related to your graphic card. Especially the 7xxx NVidia and ATI series are causing trouble. If it happens, try to type -v -x

Download

It can be found at the Green Demon.
It’s called “kalyway hackintosh10.5.3 combo update”.

Apparently Kalyway is not the only one who released a Hackintosh 10.5.3 Intel SSE3 Combo Update today. InsanelyMac User p-J has spotted an Intel SSE3 Combo Update by the famous JaS at the Green Demon.

This Update will bring your OSx86 version of Leopard up to the date as of today, just like the one by Kalyway. After the update one can either boot with mach_kernel.new for the 9.3.0 sse3 kernel by modbin, or boot with no kernel to boot the original kernel prior to the update. It’s also possible to use mach_kernel.orig to boot the 10.5.3 vanilla kernel.

The File Size is 523.49 MB.

All new drivers for most patched hardware have been moved to /System/Library/Disabled Extensions/

If you can’t access smb shares after the update use the ShareFix.pkg!

Thank you JaS!

10.5.3 is finally available as a downloadable update. The update itself weighs in at a hefty 420MB. As with most Apple updates, it wasn't very descriptive, stating only:

The 10.5.3 Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Leopard and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac.

As with all updates, DON'T INSTALL, unless you have a vanilla kernel, or until some more testing has been done. There aren't many visual changes with this update, but now you have the opinion to backup or not when you are on a laptop with Time Machine.

Here are all the General fixes, all the others can be found in the read link at the bottom of the article.

-Includes additional RAW image support for several cameras
-Addresses an issue with stuttering video and audio playback in certain USB devices
-Improves 802.1X (Wifi) behavior and reliability and when using Time Machine
-Includes fixes for Time Machine compatibility with Time Capsule
-Fixes a font issue that could result in Helvetica Narrow being used in applications instead of Helvetica.
-Resolves stability issues with Word of the Day, iTunes Artwork, and Slideshow screen savers.
-Fixes an issue in which certain attached hard drives may not show up in the Finder.
-Addresses an issue with .Mac syncing of Dashboard widgets over multiple Macs that use different screen resolutions.
-Includes additional RAW image support for several cameras.
-Improves the accuracy of the Software Update progress bar indicator.
-Addresses an issue in which Finder may not be available if the computer name is blank in Sharing preferences.

This is a BETA so don't use it on your everyday partition.

Everyone who want to localize it in its native language is welcomed !

This app can do the following :

- Download updates.
- Modify updates (remove mach_kernel and critical extensions, modify GeForce.kext and NVDAResman, search and apply cpuids and decrypt encrypted files).
- Install updates.

I managed to update Leopard-10.5.1 to 10.5.2.

Many improvments need to be done before to integrate this app in a release.
- LeopardGraphicsUpdate does not install correctly as well as some others updates)
- Some kext like System.kext are not removed
- ...

If you want to test it make sure to create a spare partition with a test installation of Leopard !!!

PS: German people, don't laugh at me ... I've localized it with the translator widget ... :-)))))))

iATKOS v2.0i has been released by the OSx86 Türk Team and is currently on the Green Demon. If you aren't registered at the Demon, be sure to grab the torrent as soon as possible because unregistered users can only access recent torrents.
Readme:

QUOTE Attention:

iATKOS v2.0i

1- This DVD is designed for Intel architectures.
Minimum requirements: Intel SSE3 CPU, 512MB RAM, 12GB free space on target partition.

2- This DVD includes Apple's OS X Leopard 10.5.2 (9C7010) installation.

3- Make sure that the md5 checksum of your iATKOS iso image matches the one posted on our website. Otherwise you may have a faulty DVD image. Use quality media/burner and burn slowly.

Information:

- This release supports GPT (Guid Partition Table) partition map scheme. You can change your partition table type to GPT via Disk Utility or some other partition managers. We advice Parted Magic Live CD which is based on GParted.

- This release also includes Darwin EFI emulation boot for MBR (Master Boot Record) harddrives. Intel Core CPUs can use stock kernel and stock ACPIPlatform with EFI emulation on MBR and with GPT. This increases stability and performance.

- Intel CoreDuo Processors have appropriate SpeedStep Technology which is stable in OS X. If you have such processor, you can enable throttling feature using the "SpeedStep" package which you can find under system drivers section. Note that speedstep kernel is included in iATKOS main system, so don't select any of the kernels with speedstep support if you don't want to have kernel panic.

- There are some boot options for some various hardware. Boot DVD, press F8 and enter:
nforce -v
for nForce motherboards with intel SSE3 CPU
nforce_core -v
for nForce motherboards with Intel Core CPU
toh -v
for booting with ToH 9.2.0 kernel which works nice on many types of hardware

Installation:

1- Run Disk Utility via Utilities menu and erase the target partition for clean install. Do partitioning if you need to.

a- You can choose MBR (Master Boot Record) or GPT (Guid Partition Table) via partitioning options. If you want to change your existing partition table type, know that all your existing data on disk will be gone.
b- For Windows fellows that has not tested this amazing system yet and that does not want to loose their windows software, porn and virus&trojan archive on D:\, should use Parted Magic Live CD for preparing an active primary target partition and after that, just erase it via diskutil. Jump to Step 2.

2- Select the destination for installation.

3- Click customize and select what you need.

4- Click Install.

Install time is about 20 minutes.

Multiboot:

iATKOS 2.0i has no integrated procedure for multibooting but preparing a multiboot GPT or MBR system with this release is easier than ever.

Here is a ''How To'' for GPT and MBR triple boot including Mac-Vista-Linux.

- MBR (Master Boot Record) triple boot -

- Change your partition table type to MBR (msdos type) and create 3 primary partitions by using Parted Magic Live CD or iATKOS Disk Utility. HFS+ format for OS X target, Fat32 for the others.
Note: %99.99999 of the PC harddrives already have MBR partition map scheme (msdos type) which you can change it to GPT via Parted Magic CD or iATKOS Disk Utility if you like to.

- Add boot flag to Vista or Linux target and install the OS' in any order you like. For linux, do not install bootloader to MBR, install it to linux root.

- Boot iATKOS 2.0i DVD and install OS X to its target as usual.

- Now you need to repair Vista. Add boot flag to Vista partition, boot Vista DVD, select repair, add boot flag to OS X partition, thats all.

Now you have triple boot on MBR.

Note: Adding boot flag to MBR partitions: Boot Parted Magic Live CD, right click to partition, select flags and click to boot.

- GPT (Guid Partition Table) triple boot -

- Change your partition table type to GPT (Guid Partition Table) and create 3 partitions by using Parted Magic Live CD or iATKOS Disk Utility. HFS+ format for OS X target, Fat32 (msdos) for the others.

- Boot iATKOS 2.0i DVD, install only bootloader to OS X target. ***

- Boot Vista or Linux media and install the OS' in any order you like. For linux, install the bootloader to linux root.

- Boot iATKOS 2.0i DVD and install OS X as usual.

Now you have triple boot on GPT, thats all.

As you see, preparing multiboot system on GPT is more practical and easier.
Darwin on GPT will see other OS' as Foreign Boot.

*** For pro-users: You can re-install Darwin bootloader by booting the iATKOS DVD with -s. Boot with -s and enter darwin command, follow the instructions. For MBR HD, you can add boot flag via fdisk after darwin installation.

Known Issues:

1- Jmicron IDE controllers are known to have issues with OS X.

2- Some 965 chipset MSI and ASUS motherboards (desktop and laptop) have issues with this OS. ACPI errors while booting with DVD and also with hd. There will be patches for those uncompatible devices and there is also a patch for 1.0ir2.

3- This dvd may not include all the necessary drivers required by your setup. Additional steps may be needed to be taken by the user to setup and use such components.

4- Be sure that the labels of your hfs+ partitions are not similar. ie. Mac 1, MacOS or Leopard X, Leopard Y. Installer may fail to determine the target partition to install the system if the labels match.

Unsuccessful Installation and Related Symptoms:

1- I get the error "com.apple.Boot.plist is not found" while booting the DVD

--> You are probably trying to boot from an unsupported controller.
~ You should use usb dvd rom drive, or you may need sata-ide convertor for your dvd rom drive (jmicron).

2- System freezes at grey screen by booting the DVD.

--> You probably have an unsupported chipset.
*965 chipset ASUS or MSI motherboard/laptop
*many VIA, SIS, ATI chipset motherboards
~ Change your hardware smile.gif
~ A patch can be possible for 965 ASUS/MSI hardware, so keep on watching this community.
